Day 2 · Athens
The Acropolis and the New Museum
Breakfast
Guided tour in Spanish
Dinner
After breakfast we meet our guide at the New Acropolis Museum. Then we climb toward the sanctuary of Athena, the city's patron goddess, passing the Theater of Dionysus — birthplace of tragedy, comedy and drama — and the ruins of the Sanctuary of Asclepius, the great healing center of ancient Athens.
At the top wait the masterpieces of the 5th century BC: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion with its Caryatids and, finally, the Parthenon. From the hill you can see the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Philopappos Monument and the Pnyx, where the assemblies of history's first direct democracy met.
We descend by way of the Areopagus, the hill where Saint Paul preached to the Athenians, into the heart of the modern city. The afternoon is free for its streets, shops and terraces. Dinner at the hotel.

We set out early for the Peloponnese. First stop: the Corinth Canal, which links the Gulf of Corinth, open to the Ionian Sea, with the Saronic Gulf.
Crossing the Argolid we reach Epidaurus, famous for its Sanctuary of Asclepius and for the most celebrated theater of the ancient world, known for its extraordinary acoustics.
Then Mycenae: we enter through the Lion Gate to see the Royal Tombs, the palace complex and the houses of high dignitaries. Outside the citadel we visit the monumental beehive tomb known as the Treasury of Atreus, or Tomb of Agamemnon. Free time for lunch, then back to Athens for dinner.
An early departure for Delphi. We walk through the precinct of the Oracle, the great sanctuary dedicated to Apollo that became the religious center of the entire Greek world.
Next, the Delphi Museum and its treasures, above all the famous bronze Charioteer. Lunch on your own, then back to Athens for dinner.
