Istanbul · Ankara · Cappadocia
A packed breakfast and an early drive to Ankara over the Bolu mountains. In the capital we visit Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey.
We continue to Cappadocia past Lake Tuz, the Salt Lake and Turkey's second-largest lake, and a 13th-century Seljuk caravanserai, an inn on the old trade routes. Arrival, dinner and overnight.
Optional: a jeep safari through Cappadocia's valleys and rock formations.
On some departures, for operational reasons, the Istanbul–Ankara leg may be by high-speed train or domestic flight.
